World Series Game 6: Astros vs. Braves score, live updates as Atlanta aims for first title since 1995

The Atlanta Braves are closing in on their first World Series championship in 26 years. The Braves, who entered Tuesday night with a 3-2 series advantage, have a large lead against the Houston Astros in Game 6 of the 2021 World Series thanks to homers from Jorge Soler and Dansby Swanson. The Astros, who came from behind in Game 5, will need another comeback if they want to force a Game 7. Here’s how you can watch Game 6.

Houston started rookie righty Luis Garcia (11-8, 3.48 ERA) on short rest, and he looked fantastic in the first two innings of Game 6, though things unraveled in the third. Soler hit a three-run homer literally out of the ballpark with two outs to give Atlanta a 3-0 lead. Atlanta’s lead became 5-0 when Swanson took reliever Cristian Javier deep in the fifth inning. Freddie Freeman added an RBI double later in the fifth to make it 6-0.

As for the Braves, de facto ace Max Fried (14-7, 3.04 ERA) started Game 6 with an extra day of rest. Michael Brantley inadvertently stepped on Fried’s ankle on a play at first base in the first inning Tuesday, though Fried shook it off and remained in the game. He escaped a two-on, no-outs situation in the first.
