Sergino Dest picks up hamstring injury during USMNT win over Jamaica

Barcelona full-back Sergino Dest looks to have picked up another injury on international duty after being forced off in the USMNT’s World Cup qualifying win over Jamaica.

Dest started the 2-0 win at right back and picked up an assist when he teed up 18-year-old Ricardo Pepi for the opening goal on 49 minutes.

Pepi added a second just after the hour to secure a second consecutive qualifying win for Gregg Berhalter’s side who go on to play Panama on October 10 and Costa Rica three days later.

It’s not clear if Dest will be available for either of those games. He was taken off after 77 minutes of the game against Jamaica after feeling some hamstring discomfort, according to Catalunya Radio.

Barca will also be sweating on Dest’s fitness with big games against Valencia, Dynamo Kiev, and Real Madrid to come immediately after the international break.

Dest has been filling in well at left-back recently for Barca but looks set to switch back to the right with Jordi Alba back to full fitness and Alejandro Balde also back in training.

Oscar Mingueza has taken over from Dest on the right in recent game and could continue if the American is forced out of action because of injury.
