Mitchell Robinson injures hand in Knicks’ win over Wizards

Mitchell Robinson was having a massive first half Friday night before suffering a fractured right hand late in the second quarter of the Knicks’ 109-91 win in Washington.

The team’s starting center will be re-evaluated Saturday back in New York, the team said.

Robinson had 10 points and 14 rebounds – the first double-double of his career before halftime of a game – before he appeared to injure his hand while attempting to block a shot late in the second quarter.

The third-year center has started each of the Knicks’ first 27 games, averaging 8.4 points and 8.4 boards per game.

Veteran big men Nerlens Noel and Taj Gibson likely would see increased playing time in Robinson’s absence.
