The Iowa Department of Public Health on Tuesday reported 844 new COVID-19 cases and 13 additional deaths.At 10 a.m., IDPH reported 320,339 total cases, 286,341 total recoveries and 4,919 total deaths since the pandemic began. Twenty-four hours earlier, IDPH reported 319,495 total cases and 4,906 total deaths.The health department reports 256,096 vaccine doses have been administered to 243,705 Iowa residents. The health department reports 134,292 have received an initial dose, while 60,902 have received a second inoculation.Iowa now has a 14-day positivity rate of 9.6%, down from 9.9% the previous day. The 7-day average dropped from 7.5% to 7.3%. State data shows 1,477,306 Iowans have been tested for the virus, while 3,648,656 tests have been administered.The number of Iowa’s 99 counties reporting a 14-day positivity rate greater than 15% is down to five. Sixty-seven counties report a rate less than 10%. Emmet County reports the lowest rate in the state at 4.6%.The number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 increased overnight. There are now 390 patients hospitalized, up from 368 the previous day. There were 49 patients admitted in the last 24 hours, up from 41 a day earlier. There are 88 patients in ICU and 31 patients on ventilators.Forty-eight of Iowa’s long-term care facilities report COVID-19 outbreaks, down from 55 the previous day. The health department reports 1,417 positive cases and 857 recoveries among residents and staff within those facilities.
