The Iowa Department of Public Health reports more than 250,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to Iowa residents.The health department on Wednesday reported 1,197 new positive cases and 56 additional deaths. At 10 a.m., the state reported 321,536 total cases, 288,312 total recoveries and 4,975 total deaths since the start of the pandemic. The state reported 320,339 total cases and 4,919 total deaths 24 hours earlier.The health department reports 263,248 vaccine doses have been administered in the state, with 64,046 individuals completing the vaccine series. Polk County leads the state with nearly 40,000 doses administered. Iowa’s 14-day positivity rate continues to decline, while the 7-day average increased slightly. Iowa reports a statewide 14-day rate of 9.5%, down from 9.6% a day earlier. The 7-day rate increased from 7.3% to 7.6%.Only five of Iowa’s 99 counties report a 14-day positivity rate greater than 15%. Page County now reports a 20.1% rate. Sixty-nine counties report a rate lower than 10%. Emmet County reports the lowest rate in the state at 3.7%.State data shows 382 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19 in Iowa. That’s down from 390 a day earlier. The number hospitalized in the last 24 hours increased from 49 to 58. There are 86 patients in ICU and 34 patients on ventilators.The number of long-term care facilities reporting COVID-19 outbreaks stands at 48. The health department reports 1,404 positive cases and 862 recoveries among residents and staff within those facilities.
